This project-based learning experience sees kids get into teams to set up and run a movie production company. Using specialist software, they apply themselves to a real-world scenario by producing a movie from start to finish.
It may be a student’s first exposure to animation technology or they may use the opportunity to further existing talents – the program is entirely flexible to the individual. Each team concepts, storyboards and produces their movie before creating and executing an original marketing campaign – with every decision their own.
Box Office Day is where the program culminates. Students present previews of their movie before selling tickets to peers, parents and teachers, who watch the movie and provide constructive feedback.
BizMovie was originally developed in collaboration with the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) in order to bring together important technology skills in a business context for students who might not otherwise consider careers in technology.
